Fossil Dinosaur Tyrannosaurus T Rex bone 94mm trabecular South Dakota COA 4241

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany this item. This is not "like" a T Rex or "African T Rex". Nor is it just in the Tyrannosaur family like Albertosaurus or Daspletosaurus. It is the real thing.

Here is an extremely nice piece of bone from a T Rex, with excellent trabecular pattern. Was found in the Hell Creek Formation, near Newell, Butte County, South Dakota, about 20 miles north of Sturgis. There were a large number of pieces (more than 120). Found in the same exact site, of a T-Rex. To make a complete skeleton. All the pieces are from the same back leg, so they are mostly femur, fibula and tibia of the T Rex. This specimen is from a leg bone of the T Rex. Great curvature on one side, trabecular pattern holes are plainly visible on the other.

Trabecular holes are holes in the middle of weight-bearing bones that allow them to weigh less and still maintain enough strength to support the huge creature. Though all large dinosaurs had some trabecular pattern T Rex had a very efficient pattern, larger holes that allowed it to catch its prey. You can see these large holes all over the concave side of this bone (inner part of the bone). The specimen measures about 94 mm.

Across (3.7) and it weighs 125 grams 4.41 oz. 66 to 68 million years ago. The last great Age of the Dinosaur.

Tyrannosaurus Rex was king of the predators in the Hell Creek Formation. The name Tyrannosaurus means "Tyrant Lizard" in Greek, and Rex means "King" in Latin.

It could grow to 40 feet, and had the strongest bite of any land animal ever. We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).

Some words of caution about COA's: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA's, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen.

Finally, a COA without a photo of the exact item described, as part of that COA, is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral. We suggest that instead of relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject. We want to make sure you are fairly treated by us always. We cordially invite you to visit our store, and see items and fossils ranging from budget to world-class.

You will receive the exact item described and photographed, unless clearly stated otherwise. In some cases, that is easy, in some cases, not so much. If you take it out of the United States, you are on your own.

We wrap these very carefully and securely. If this does not work with you, please do not order. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Rocks, Fossils & Minerals\Fossils\Vertebrates\Amphibian, Reptile & Dinosaur". The seller is "gpjpoky" and is located in this country: US.

This item can be shipped to United States.
