A photo Certificate of Authenticity from us at Pioneer Fossils will accompany this item. This specimen is not "like" a T Rex or "African T Rex".
Nor is it merely in the Tyrannosaur family like Albertosaurus or Daspletosaurus. It is the real thing. Here is an extremely nice piece of scapula bone from a T Rex. Was found in the Hell Creek Formation, near Glendive, Montana, in 1999. There were a large number of pieces (more than 150). Found in the same exact site, of a T-Rex. This piece is likely from that rear articulation end of a Tyrannosaurus rex scapula. The scapula is the shoulder blade. The specimen measures about 4.5 inches on the calipers from tip to tip, and it weighs 6.6 oz. 66 to 68 million years ago. The last great Age of the Dinosaur. With dinosaur bones, many are found in the ground cracked but still "together". However, pulling it out of the ground at this point would cause it to instantly fragment and now you have 40 pieces, none of which are still together. So the standard procedure in this case is for the digger to put some adhesive, such as Star Bond, onto the bones, instantly gluing them together in the proper position. Then when the bone is pulled out, it is much more likely to stay together. That appears to be what happened in this case. This is not considered "damaged" when it comes to dinosaur bones, but is standard procedure.
A bone found in perfect condition, with no breaks, sells for a high premium. Tyrannosaurus Rex was king of the predators in the Hell Creek Formation. The name Tyrannosaurus means "Tyrant Lizard" in Greek, and Rex means "King" in Latin. It could grow to 40 feet, and had the strongest bite of any land animal ever. We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity). Some words of caution about COA's: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA's, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. Finally, a COA without a photo of the exact item described, as part of that COA, is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral. We suggest that instead of relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject. We want to make sure you are fairly treated by us always. We cordially invite you to visit our store, and see items and fossils ranging from budget to superb.
You will receive the exact item described and photographed, unless clearly stated otherwise. In some cases, that is easy, in some cases, not so much. If you take it out of the United States, you are on your own.
