Dinosaur sculpture by Louis Paul Jonas Studios, circa 1963. This famous model of a T-Rex was made in a limited edition and distributed to museums around the world. One of them made it into the movie War Games. It is in a large scale, 26" tall, and the base is 40" x20. The Jonas Studios were contracted by major museums to construct life-like dioramas, the most famous of which is the group of African elephants at the Museum of Natural History in New York.
It would make a great gift for the man or woman who has everything or for the love and enjoyment of your children's viewing pleasure. This is an amazing artwork, crafted to appear as realistic as possible, and appears as if a taxidermy example of the actual animal. My children loved it when displayed in our family room and whether young or old, it was appreciated as a focal point of the room. We've downsized our home and the kids are grown up and gone while this amazing sculpture collects dust in our basement. It's time for a new generation to love it. The artist was Hungarian born, studied sculpture and taxidermy, and worked for the American Museum of Natural History from the 1920's until his death in 1971. His sculptures of wildlife are displayed in over 50 museums around the world and were also on exhibit at the New York World's Fair in 1964 at the Sinclair exhibit. It must be insured should it travel far afield. This sculpture requires two people to lift. If it must travel a distance, the estimate may be higher to have them professionally crated, depending on the final destination. This is a museum quality piece and could be easily damaged.
